Environments Lecture Theatre AV & UC Solutions
Creating lecture theatres for enhanced learning
The right combination of technology delivers great lecture experiences for students, teaching staff and the technicians that support them.
Lectures have been the lifeblood of university education since medieval times and continue to play a vital role in knowledge transfer in higher education, whether student attend in person or remotely.
It is essential to ensure every student sees and hears with clarity, regardless of where they are watching – from any seat in the lecture hall or from a remote location, to aid understanding.
That takes the right resolution and size of display, the right brightness and often, the right combination of displays with lecturers increasingly displaying multiple sources simultaneously to enrich their content/
It also takes great audio including voice reinforcement, amplification and speakers, and now the added benefit of being able to stream audio to students’ personal devices, to support those with hearing or visual impairment or simply wanting more control over volume.
Lectures are no longer the passive teaching tool of old, with increased student interaction, breakout groups and interactive collaboration – all powered by technology in spaces that have to flex and adapt.
And let’s not forget, lecture capture is now a de facto standard in higher education, ensuring students are able to revisit parts of the lecture or watch it in its entirety on-demand to aid comprehension and support revision.
The intense use of technology turns up the heat on lecturers, so it is also essential to provide intuitive walk-up-and-use controls, which are the same whichever lecture space teaching staff use and to reduce the burden on support staff and costs.
Advanced solutions controlled by a flexible suite of management technologies
Our lecture theatre solutions comprise everything from display equipment with interactive annotation systems, visualisers that display a wide range of media, preview monitors mounted on teaching desks and projection systems with fixed or electronic frames. Presentation audio can include surround sound, voice reinforcement, speaker and microphone schemes while video conferencing systems of cameras and codecs enable the presenter to communicate to attending and remote audiences. IP recording offers simple recording and streaming that can be conducted without any manual intervention while controls are traditionally touch panel focussed with user-friendly graphical user interfaces for intuitive operation.
